NWP Coal Canada Ltd (NWP) proposes the Crown Mountain Coking Coal Project to develop and operate an open pit steelmaking coal mine located in the Elk Valley.
The high elevation grasslands in the Elk Valley are very unique. They have already been heavily reduced and impacted in this area due to nearby coal mining and this project would further reduce and impact these grasslands. They contain many plant species at risk and are critical habitat to bighorn sheep and other wildlife.
