The Grasslands Conservation Council of BC (GCC) is seeking a qualified professional for our grasslands mapping project.
The project objectives are:
– Refine grassland boundaries of BC Grasslands Mapping which was completed by the GCC in 1995 with minor updates in 2015.
– Map encroachment for the Thompson Region, extending what has already been done by the Province of BC in the Cariboo region. Note that the 2005 encroachment layer for the Cariboo is available online and there is also an update from 2023 that is not online yet.
– Indicate other losses by category since 2015 (eg. residential, industrial, agricultural, etc…).
– Map historic benchmark grasslands, extending what has already been done by the Province of BC in the Cariboo region, using the Historical Open Range layer plus review of historical imagery where available.
