Education & Outreach
Promoting attitudes and practices that support healthy grasslands.
The BC Grassland Conservation Council’s goal is to support behaviour that creates and maintains healthy grasslands.
As is often the case in a learning situation, you don’t know what you don’t know. People need to learn what to do and why, and then have opportunities to practice those new behaviours. This applies as much to mountain biking in sensitive grasslands as it does to dealing with a new invasive weed on a cattle ranching operation.
We publish reports and share information online; host field days; and partner with other conservation organizations, government agencies, and universities to deliver programs to various audiences.
We meet with ranchers on range management, off-road vehicle groups and local governments on sensitive ecosystems, and community associations on species at risk.
Our education and outreach projects include:
- Laurie Guichon Memorial Grasslands Interpretive Site
- Trade fairs and conferences, such as British Columbia Cattleman’s Association
- Best Management Practices for Motorized Recreation on BC’s Grasslands
